The same value is in SHA256.txt. To check it yourself, open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run Get-FileHash .\WebCamProGOATSetup-0.1.0.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256.
Be clear about what that check proves: it shows the file arrived complete and uncorrupted. It cannot prove the file was never swapped, because the hash comes from the same website as the file.
Installing it
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows does not recognise its publisher and may interrupt you before it runs. That is expected for an installer that is not code-signed.
- Windows may show a blue box reading Windows protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway.
- A permission prompt may show the publisher as Unknown publisher. Click Yes.
- That happens because GOAT Cam's installer does not yet carry a code-signing certificate. Checking the SHA-256 above before you run the file is the check that is available to you today.
What gets installed
- GOAT Cam — the camera that your video apps select, and the companion app you use to pair with the phone and adjust the picture.
- Apple Bonjour — the service that lets the phone and the PC find each other over Wi-Fi. If Bonjour is already installed on the PC, the installer leaves it alone.
Nothing else is installed. The support page covers removing both again.
For USB connections, Windows also needs Apple's free Apple Devices app from the Microsoft Store. This installer does not include it, because Apple does not allow it to be redistributed. Wi-Fi does not need it.
Third-party notice
This installer includes Apple's Bonjour for Windows. Bonjour is Apple's software and is covered by Apple's own licence, not ours: see Apple's Bonjour page. Bonjour is listed separately in Windows and can be removed on its own.
After it is installed
Follow the setup steps on the support page to connect the phone over USB or Wi-Fi and to select the camera in your video app.
